Green Pride 2019

On Saturday 20th July 2019 Green Pride took place in Preston Park, Brighton. Now into its sixth event, this is the fourth time we have visited the park, seeing it grow year on year.

If you are familiar with the Brighton cannabis scene you may have experienced one of their community events - they always seem to attract a big crowd, and Green Pride was one of the biggest to date.

Borofest Glass & Arts Festival 2019

Last weekend Borofest took place in Oxfordshire. The festival site, consisting of three fields and a barn, was located in an idyllic spot in the Great British countryside, and craft vendors, glassblowers and enthusiastic attendees all came together for the event.

Borofest is a glassblowing and arts festival with a focus on things like pipe and rig making, which requires the use of 'hard' glass known as Boro. This requires a specialist set up including extraction, propane and oxygen tanks, a kiln and more, making the craft less accessible to some who maybe cannot afford a set up or lack the space to do so. But thankfully there are places and events like this that glass enthusiasts can go to learn more about borosilicate glass. Now in it's fourth year, the festival offers a space for boro glass artists to jump on the torch and create some awesome glass pieces, as well as for fans of the art to come and watch their favourite artists live in action, or even to have lessons and make their own glass objects. Borofest has been steadily growing year on year, with 500 attendees this year. If you want to know more about last year, you can read our article on Borofest 2018, which took place in the middle of some magical woods.
420
420 LONDON 2019

On 4/20 (That's 20/4 to us Brits) the world gathers to celebrate cannabis. The day is marked by numerous gatherings across the globe, from London to Berlin to Vancouver and hundreds of other parks and locations people came together to celebrate cannabis and cannabis lifestyle.

I've been attending the Hyde Park celebrations for around 5 years, but they have been happening a lot longer than that. Ever since the late 60's, people have been gathering in the park in protest, and in recent years the event has grown synonymous with 420, and arrests have dropped to zero (now two years running).
Original Alternative Cannabis Club in Spain

After visiting Barcelona for Spannabis 2019 I travelled down to Pinoso, a mountain town located about 40 minutes from Ali Cante near the South East Coast of Spain.

The reason for my trip was to spend some time with The Original Alternative Cannabis Club who are based in the area. This English-run club was set up by Andrew, a good friend and director of CBD Brothers who have been making waves in the CBD market for some years in the UK, before expanding to Spain and Guernsey in recent years.

The Original Alternative Cannabis Club

The Original Alternative Private Member's Club opened its doors in 2019 and provides access for members to locally-sourced good quality cannabis with a focus on understanding the cannabinoids within. On the shelves of The Original Alternative, you will likely find a whole range of balances, from the traditional mostly THC, to 1:1 ratio strains and even some high CBD low THC varieties.

Spannabis 2019

On 15-17th March Spannabis 2019 took place in Barcelona, Catalonia. This cannabis-themed expo was a great event, attracting passionate cannabis industry and consumers from across the world.

Focused primarily on the European cannabis market, Spannabis takes place every March in Fira De Cornelia (near Liceu train station). The expo made headlines earlier this year when it was purchased by High Times for a reported $7 million.

Spannabis encompasses every side of the cannabis industry, from growing, to testing, to vaping and glass products, to clothing and apparel, and much, much more.  We saw companies from across the UK, EU, the US and South America exhibiting at Spannabis 2019.
Mary Jane’s Celebrate their First Meet Up at Green Pride Brighton

Mary Jane’s Brighton held their launch event at Green Pride Brighton on 30th December 2018.

Organizers of the event felt that a space where women could socialise and discuss the medicinal, culinary, recreational and spiritual use of the plant would be beneficial to the local community. One member stated: “there is a common misconception that women do not enjoy cannabis as much as men, or aren’t interested in learning about it’s uses and getting involved in the cannabis community. Assumptions like this show that women need a stronger voice in the cannabis community.”
Darwen Bonfire Blaze

Last weekend saw the return of Darwen bonfire blaze, a community event that welcomes individuals from all aspects of life to socialize with like-minded people.

Dawen cannabis club bonfire night 2018
The event was held at an abandoned high school in Darwen, Lancashire. With a scenic mountain backdrop lit by the bonfire and a combination of cannabis smoke and music filling the air it didn’t take long for the public to arrive in their droves.
