Original Alternative Cannabis Club in Spain

After visiting Barcelona for Spannabis 2019 I travelled down to Pinoso, a mountain town located about 40 minutes from Ali Cante near the South East Coast of Spain.

The reason for my trip was to spend some time with The Original Alternative Cannabis Club who are based in the area. This English-run club was set up by Andrew, a good friend and director of CBD Brothers who have been making waves in the CBD market for some years in the UK, before expanding to Spain and Guernsey in recent years.

The Original Alternative Cannabis Club

The Original Alternative Private Member's Club opened its doors in 2019 and provides access for members to locally-sourced good quality cannabis with a focus on understanding the cannabinoids within. On the shelves of The Original Alternative, you will likely find a whole range of balances, from the traditional mostly THC, to 1:1 ratio strains and even some high CBD low THC varieties.

Spannabis 2019

On 15-17th March Spannabis 2019 took place in Barcelona, Catalonia. This cannabis-themed expo was a great event, attracting passionate cannabis industry and consumers from across the world.

Focused primarily on the European cannabis market, Spannabis takes place every March in Fira De Cornelia (near Liceu train station). The expo made headlines earlier this year when it was purchased by High Times for a reported $7 million.

Spannabis encompasses every side of the cannabis industry, from growing, to testing, to vaping and glass products, to clothing and apparel, and much, much more.  We saw companies from across the UK, EU, the US and South America exhibiting at Spannabis 2019.
ISMOKE in Amsterdam 2018

Amsterdam is my most visited city to date. I love the vibe right from when you get off the train at Centraal station to when you're having your last smoke in the coffeeshop before the plane home.

In fact, I enjoy visiting this city so much that I have been back almost every year since my first visit in 2010 to sample the herbal delights that this city has to offer. You could say that it has become a pilgrimage of sorts. It feels that way to me at least!

This year I was visiting with the soon-to-be Mrs Green and some friends, for 3 nights / 4 days in total. One of the days was Elrow festival, a house and techno music event which took place across the water from Centraal Station. The rest of the time we were visiting coffeeshops, eating pancakes and wandering across the city in search of vegan fast food.
Exploring the European Cannabis Scene (Part 7)

This week on ISMOKE we will be finishing up our seven-part series exploring Europe's ever-changing attitudes towards cannabis and looking at how individual nations are preparing future policies for what will eventually and inevitably become a global post-prohibition paradigm.

In this final piece, we'll be looking at the remaining countries on the continent that we have yet to touch upon in the previous six articles – all of which you can read below.
Exploring the European Cannabis Scene (Part 6)

This week in the penultimate article continuing on with our seven-part series exploring the ever-evolving European cannabis scene. In this piece, we’ll be focusing on the former Soviet Union block of Europe.

In this feature, we are discussing the former Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) and its cannabis policies and history. We will then be taking a look at the individual nations created by the fall of the Soviet republic in 1991.

Exploring the European Cannabis Scene (Part 5)

This is the fifth of our seven-part series looking at changing tides in the European cannabis scene.

This week we'll be looking at the Balkan states and countries of the former Yugoslavia.

Named for the Balkan mountain range that stretches from the Serbian/Bulgaria border to the black sea region, this includes. Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Bulgaria, Albania, Romania, Serbia, Greece, and Slovenia. We’ll be looking in more depth at some states than others, focusing on Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria, and Albania as individual countries and The former states of Yugoslavia (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Kosovo, Republic of Macedonia and Montenegro) as a collective. We have covered Greece already here in a previous article.
ISMOKE at Spannabis 2018
Spannabis Expo 2018

Last week we attended Spannabis 2018, Europe's largest cannabis expo, which took place in Barcelona, in the Catalonia region of Spain.

The event attracts people from the cannabis industry from all over the world to exhibit, as well as consumers, growers and anybody else with a passion for cannabis.

Spannabis BCN is held over 3 days at Fira de Cornellà, a venue located a short trip from BCN city centre, taking place from Friday-Sunday. We attended all three days this year and caught up with a lot of familiar faces, as well as meeting more awesome people.
