Animal Cookies US Cannabis Strain Review

I got my hands on some this week to sample exclusively for the ISMOKE channel.

Strain Summary

Animal Cookies, also known as Animal Crackers, is a potent indica-dominant hybrid bred by BC Bud Depot through the crossing of Girl Scout Cookies and Fire OG. It showcases THC levels ranging from 21% to 23.75% and CBD content between 0.43% and 0.8%, positioning it as a strong choice for experienced cannabis consumers. The strain is renowned for its delightful taste, combining sour and sweet notes with an earthy, pungent aroma, further enhanced by flavours of cherry cookies, vanilla, and nuts.

This strain delivers a deeply relaxing effect, ideal for unwinding after a stressful day, while also invoking happiness, euphoria, and a giggly mood. Animal Cookies has been particularly noted for its effectiveness in treating migraines, anxiety, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, anorexia, and stress, thanks to its high THC content and the comprehensive relaxation it provides. However, users should be aware of potential side effects, such as dry mouth and eyes, with fewer reports of anxiety and paranoia.

Growing Animal Cookies can be quite challenging, requiring a controlled environment and is thus not recommended for novice growers. It demands meticulous attention to air circulation, ventilation, and regular trimming, flourishing best indoors with a flowering period of 8-9 weeks. The yield is rewarding, with indoor growers expecting about 11 ounces per square meter and outdoor cultivators about 13 ounces per plant, ready for harvest around September.

The terpene profile of the Animal Cookies strain is rich and complex, featuring pinene, myrcene, ocimene, camphene, humulene, limonene, linalool, bisabolol, terpinolene, phellandrene, and caryophyllene, contributing to its unique taste and therapeutic benefits. Despite the cultivation challenges, the strain’s enjoyable effects and flavour profile make it a valuable addition to the repertoire of more experienced growers.

Appearance

Really frosty, cloudy trichomes – no glisten. The colouration is actually skewed a bit more white than you’d expect because of this. Light green, dusty white..

The Animal Cookies strain definitely looks imported – like it has been compressed- specifically vac packed at one point during its journey. I have nothing against this – I find this style particularly good for vaping

Smell

Animal Cookies has a sweet cookies aroma that is difficult to gauge directly – it’s the lovely indirect smell that gets you.

I’m finding it really hard to describe this one, but it reminded me of Girl Scout Cookies, and I haven’t tried Fire OG.

Not the strongest smell, but one which smells lovely when you crack open the pop jar after 5 minutes!

Taste

Hitting this sample through my bong I’m immediately impressed with how smooth it is, I am able to hit the bowl in one breath with little coughing, and I didn’t struggle with the hit.

The flavour was mild, but again, I got a bit of sweet cookies, although it wasn’t particularly apparent for an imported strain.

Effects

This is where the Animal Cookies comes strain into its own – it’s a hybrid strain, and delivers a potent stoned feeling. The ride starts about 4-6 minutes after consumption.

I felt good physically – like, I was conscious that my body felt nice. Strong relaxation is the main effect to shout about – this left me wondering where it is on the hybrid spectrum – perhaps more on the indica side?

Overall

I enjoyed sampling this Animal Cookies, but it doesn’t match up to the Apple Jack that I reviewed from the US recently.

While the bong was smooth the flavour was a bit lacking. The effects were lovely and make up for a lot of the less impressive features of this sample.

I’d certainly smoke this again.
