Lavender Cannabis Strain Review
Welcome back to ISMOKE and another cannabis strain review. Today we are taking a look at an Indica strain which combines great genetics from across the globe.
The Lavender strain, bred by Soma Seeds, is a combination of Super Skunk, Big Skunk Korean and Afghani Hawaiian. Also referred to as Soma #10, Lavender has been growing in popularity of late. This is the second time I have encountered it this year. The first was in Remedy Cannabis Club Barcelona, but I missed my chance to purchase it then!
Lavender, also known as Lavender Kush or Soma #10, is a hybrid strain with a significant indica dominance (80% indica, 20% sativa) that is highly favoured for its relaxing and soothing effects. With THC levels ranging from 20.2% to 22.6% and CBD content between 0.62% and 0.94%, this strain is potent, making it more suitable for experienced users rather than novices. It is known for its tingly full-body sensation that gently eases users into a state of deep relaxation, perfect for unwinding after a stressful day at work.
The strain’s unique flavour profile is characterised by spicy herbal notes with a distinct lavender taste, which, alongside its effects, makes it popular among many users. Its diverse parentage, including Super Skunk, Afghani Hawaiian, and Big Korean Skunk, contributes to its intense and relaxing high, complemented by a euphoric feeling that enhances sensory perception and overall well-being when consumed responsibly.
Lavender’s medical benefits are vast, addressing conditions like chronic and minor pain, stress, anxiety, depression, insomnia, and issues with appetite due to its strong indica effects. However, it’s important to be mindful of its side effects, which can include dry mouth and eyes, dizziness, mild paranoia, and anxiety.
The strain’s buds have a deep violet hue, emitting a spicy yet floral scent and taste, making it a visually appealing and aromatic choice. Despite its ordinary appearance, Lavender stands out for its unique smell and taste of sun-dried lavender, hash, and a blend of spiciness, offering a herby floral and spicy flavour profile.
Lavender is relatively easy to cultivate, resistant to many diseases and pests, and can thrive in various environmental conditions, making it a popular choice among growers. It is best grown using the Sea of Green technique to optimise yield, which is typically below average. Flowering time is between 8 to 10 weeks, with the plant showing versatility in both indoor and outdoor settings.
In summary, the Lavender strain offers a powerful and effective experience with its deeply relaxing effects and unique flavour profile. It’s an excellent choice for those seeking relief from various ailments or simply looking to enjoy a calming and euphoric high.
Appearance
The Lavender strain looks great. Exotic looking from the Hawaiian skunk lineage, the bud has good depth and a bit of give which suggests it had been dried well.
It has also been given a good trim job. The colouration is quite dark, with vibrant pistils that overtake the bud at some points! Good trichome coverage.
Smell
Sniffing the bud I get a light floral scent coming from the Lavender. Quite a sweet underlying scent.
While the smell isn’t initially overpowering when ground up the Lavender has a delicious old school skunky and slightly spicy scent.
Taste
The taste didn’t come through so much in my bong, which is a shame. I got a watery aftertaste, but not much actual bud taste through the first bong I hit in the video.
Taking the second hit I decided to use hemp wick and I’m actually impressed – this Lavender seems to have a very mild sweet and floral aftertaste which is quite nice!
Effects
I am wondering about the terpene profile of this strain. Does it have a high concentration of linalool? (the terpene also found in Lavender). I’m not sure from smoking it, but I get the enjoyable indica feeling. More relaxation than elation, this could be a good one for pain relief (although not speaking from experience).
I was impressed with the strength of this Lavender cannabis sample – the effects are very apparent a few minutes after the first bong.
Overall
As usual, I enjoyed the review this week. The lavender cannabis strain is one that I’ve been looking to try since missing my opportunity to grab some in March, and I’m glad I did!
