This week in place of our normal strain review & smoke report feature we are taking a look at three smaller-sized samples and three brand new cannabis strains.
You can watch our video sampling discussing each of the strains below. Read on to learn more about them and our experiences smoking Bubba Kush, CBD Blue Dream and Burmese Kush
Bubba Kush is an indica strain which carries an earthy, sweet taste accompanied by a piney scent.
On its origins, Leafly states that: “The breeder whom this strain was named after states that Bubba Kush emerged just after 1996, when an OG Kush hybrid pollinated an unknown indica strain obtained in New Orleans. The mother plant was supposedly Northern Lights, but the genetically ambiguous indica was simply called “Bubba.” Bubba Kush has flourished from its California roots ever since.” Read More
This sample looked good quality – it was a small but decent-looking dense nug.
It has a strong and body-led high that kicked in a few minutes after the bong and left me feeling good.
The taste was great, and the smoke was not too expansive. Smoking this through my bong made me cough, but I was still able to detect the pine notes from the flavour.
I also squashed the rest of the bud using the RosinBomb Rocket and dabbed some of the Rosin that came from the bud. I was treated to a more intense sweet and piney flavour as well as more of the strong accompanying indica high.
CBD Blue Dream
CBD Blue Dream by Humboldt Seeds is 10% THC 10% CBD. I’m glad I decided to cover this one in the middle of the two kush strains, as the Bubba Kush had left me feeling rather high already by this point!
Humboldt state that: “We’re incredibly excited to present our Blue Dream CBD, the new jewel in our connoisseur seed catalogue. This outstanding strain performs from every angle, echoing the mesmerizing traits of the original clone only variety, loved by so many. Though this version provides more moderate and subtle effects, due to the rich cannabidiol content.” Read more.
The appearance of this sample was quite different to other buds that I’ve inspected up close – the pistils on this one were multi-coloured, varying from light yellow to white, with literally some of the lightest pistils I have ever seen.
The CBD Blue Dream smelled good and tasted fantastic through my bong – this was a real treat. It completely captured the Blue Dream flavour, and the uplift from the Sativa-led high was just what I needed.
For a 1:1 strain at only 10% THC, this looked, smelled and tasted incredibly dank. The high felt balanced, perking me up after the full-indica I’d consumed previously.
Burmese Kush is a hybrid strain by T.H. Seeds that is almost half-sativa. On their website, they state that it is a “quick flowering O.G. Kush™ hybrid (7 weeks), that has that signature O.G. Kush™ flavor and strength”, also noting it has a citrus edge to the taste. Read more.
This strain was given to me at an event by somebody who had been curing it for quite a while. Unfortunately, the bud was a bit too small for the full review, so I decided to cover it today as part of this multi strain feature.
This bud actually wasn’t giving off much smell at all when I opened the jar – breaking it open I got a strong woody, earthy and organic scent.
This carried through into the flavour – I tried smoking and dabbing the rosin from the Burmese Kush. It was a completely different sort of flavour to the gas/pine tastes I’m so familiar with based on what I’ve been pressing into Rosin recently, capturing the organic scent beautifully and presenting rich notes of Earth and Wood.
I didn’t get much in the way of pine notes or a citrus edge from this sample of Burmese Kush, but it did taste good!
It is hard to pick my favourite, as all three of these strains brought something different to the table.
My favourite is probably the Bubba Kush, although I would happily smoke all three of these all day long!
