US President Barack Obama Makes a Cannabis Joke

At the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday, the president of the United States Barack Obama cracked a cannabis joke during his speech.
“The last time I was that high, I was trying to decide my major,” President Obama said. The joke was a reference to the president’s approval ratings, which have been on the rise during his final year in office.
Obama also ended his speech with the classic ‘mic drop’, which has been taking America by storm as of late.
Cannabis advocates in the US feel Obama should go further than joking about the issue and take action to reform federal marijuana laws before the end of his term.
This is now the first time Obama has joked about Cannabis.
In 2015 he said:
“I’m not saying I’m any funnier,” he said. “I’m saying weed is now legal in D.C.”
And in 2014 he stated:
“Colorado legalized marijuana this year. … It’s an interesting social experiment. I do hope it doesn’t lead to whole lot of paranoid people who think that the federal government’s out to get them and listening to their phone calls. That would be a problem.”
And in 2013 at the same event he said:
“I remember when Buzzfeed was just something I did in college around 2 a.m.”

Obama’s Administration has spent hundreds of millions of dollars interfering with state-legal medical cannabis operators, but has stood down on recreational marijuana.
A historic White House memo from Obama instructs federal prosecutors to focus on bigger priorities than state-legal pot licensees in the four recreational states — Colorado, Washington, Oregon, and Alaska — and Washington D.C.
President Obama smoked cannabis a lot as a youth when he lived in Hawaii, where he was the member of a smoking crew called The Choom Gang.
