The Sunset Sherbert strain is one parent of the Gelato strain we covered in 2018 that was too hot for YouTube. It combines Girl Scout Cookies X Pink Panties, is indica-dominant, and was bred by Mr. Sherbinski.
Strain History: The Genesis of the Sunset Sherbert Strain
The Sunset Sherbert strain is an indica-dominant hybrid, is a cannabis connoisseur’s delight with a rich lineage that speaks to its potent and sensory-rich profile. This strain is the brainchild of the renowned breeder Mr. Sherbinski, who masterfully combined the genetics of Girl Scout Cookies and Pink Panties. It’s none of the proud parents of the famed Gelato strain, which garnered immense popularity in 2018.
The Multifaceted Appeal of the Sunset Sherbert Strain
Sunset Sherbert is a visual and aromatic masterpiece. The buds are a kaleidoscope of greens and purples, adorned with a lavish layer of trichomes that give it a shimmering, frosty appearance. The nugs, while tightly formed, maintain a slightly airy structure, indicative of meticulous cultivation. Its aroma is a powerful ensemble of sweet, sickly, and pungent notes, reminiscent of its Girl Scout Cookies heritage. Breaking the bud releases a wave of super glue-like aroma, testifying to its potency and depth.
When it comes to consumption, smoking Sunset Sherbert is a unanimous favourite. Whether enjoyed in a joint, bong, or vaporizer, it delivers a cool, smooth, and clean experience. The flavor, particularly pronounced when smoked, is a delightful journey for any cannabis enthusiast.
On the effects front, Sunset Sherbert leans towards the relaxing end of the spectrum, typical of Indica-dominant strains. It offers a body-led relaxation that is both profound and refreshing, paired with a happy and uplifting cerebral high. The effects kick in swiftly, promising a blend of mental euphoria and physical calmness.
Cultivation and Medical Benefits
Cultivated ideally in a warm and humid Mediterranean climate, Sunset Sherbert thrives in conditions reminiscent of Central California. The strain responds well to indoor cultivation too, with careful attention to temperature and trimming enhancing its qualities.
The terpene profile, featuring Limonene, Caryophyllene, Pinene, Humulene, and Terpinolene, creates a symphony of citrus, spicy, and earthy tones. Sunset Sherbet is particularly effective for relieving stress, depression, pain, anxiety, sleep disorders, eating disorders, and symptoms of ADHD.
We took a look at Sunset Sherbert for the ISMOKE YouTube channel. Let’s break it down in even more detail.
Appearance
Tremendously complex, the nugs are well-formed with multiple green shades and hints of purple throughout the bud.
The trichome coverage is significant and the calyxes are tight but not stacked or super dense.
Smell
The sweet, sickly, pungent notes of the Sunset Sherbet strain remind me of Girl Scout Cookies, and it smells really strong, having quite an apparent jar smell that would probably smell in your pocket.
Breaking up the Sunset Sherbet bud releases a lot of pungency and an almost super glue-like aroma
Taste
Interestingly this is a strain I prefer smoking – I tried out the sample in my ArGo Vaporizer and also my bong, and found the smoke to be my favourite consumption method.
Lovely in a joint or a bong, the flavour comes through and the smoke is cool, smooth and clean.
Effects
Being on the indica side of the spectrum Sunset Sherbet strain is likely to lead to relaxed body-led effects.
I also felt happy and uplifted from this strong high which began to kick in mere minutes after consumption. I got the body-high feeling in my head which was quite interesting.
Conclusion
This stain is going down as one of my favourites so far this year. It isn’t quite a classic yet, but will be one day. These are some solid genetics!
The no-till growing method by RoadRunner on this one has once again resulted in a wonderful sample of flower – this one both smoked well and looked great!
