Last week we attended Spannabis 2018, Europe’s largest cannabis expo, which took place in Barcelona, in the Catalonia region of Spain.
The event attracts people from the cannabis industry from all over the world to exhibit, as well as consumers, growers and anybody else with a passion for cannabis.
Spannabis BCN is held over 3 days at Fira de Cornellà, a venue located a short trip from BCN city centre, taking place from Friday-Sunday. We attended all three days this year and caught up with a lot of familiar faces, as well as meeting more awesome people.
The Spannabis 2018 expo was even larger than last year; some companies mentioned just how competitive it is to get a stand there now. There were three halls filled with stands covering every area of the cannabis industry, from growing (seeds, nutrients, lights, etc) to consumer products, high-end glass and CBD.
There were too many people and organisations travelling across for Spannabis 2018 to even mention, but we had a great time catching up with all (and apologise to all those that we missed!)
It wasn’t just people that we missed – despite being there for three days, we missed the talks that were organised and a lot of the live music. There was just so much to do at Spannabis 2018!
Our trip was focused on the Expo, so we didn’t do a big tour of cannabis clubs like last year. On Friday evening, we attended the Harmony VIP CBD party and had a great time dancing to live reggae music and vaping.
We attended We Flowers Cannabis Club on a couple of occasions and enjoyed various flower and extracts from there, plus tried several other strains from other clubs via friends back at the apartment.
We liked the We Flowers Headbanger (Cheap, outdoor, organic and cheerful) and their Skywalker dry sift which actually won in the cup this year. We heard good things about a strain called Peach Oz, but didn’t sample it on this occasion.
However, our overall favourite strain on this trip had to be the Mataro Blue by Kannabia Seeds. You can watch our review of it (filmed out in Barcelona!) below or on the ISMOKE YouTube channel. We loved the piney sweet berry taste that just made this strain stand out for us.
Spannabis is the kind of event that we would recommend to anybody in the industry, particularly if you are looking to get an idea of the scale of the cannabis scene in Europe. The world is changing, and more and more companies are capitalising on the valuable new green industry even before we have legalisation in the UK. Those companies will reap the rewards of their hard work now when cannabis is legalised in this country.
We will be attending again in 2019 – if you would like to meet us in Barcelona next year, tweet us and let us know – @ISMOKEMEDIA
