Kannastor GR8TR V2 Series by RYOT Review

The Kannastor GR8TR V2 is the third entry in this series. Episode 1. Episode 2.
One of my ongoing media projects is the ISMOKE Grinder Review series. In it I take a deep-dive look at various herb shredders available on the market. The vast majority of cannabis consumers use a herb grinder to break apart their weed before rolling with it or putting it into a bong or pipe, and I want to find and review the best cannabis grinders out there.
Features
In episode 3 of the series, released this week on YouTube, the Kannastor GR8TR V2 is in the spotlight. And this incredibly modular device comes apart into – wait for it – 9 pieces (ok, 7, if you don’t include the removable screen and kief pick as pieces).
Not only that, but the GR8TR has two interchangeable plates. It has one for smoking, and one for vaping, which is unique to this grinder, at least to my knowledge.
The Kannastor GR8TR is produced and sold by RYOT, a US-based smoking accessories company who have been in operation since 2000. (Side note: they sponsor a pro skater team!) because of this, it can sometimes be difficult to source one in the UK if retailers are out of stock.
It comes in multiple colours. I picked Rose Gold because I haven’t got any other grinders in this colour. But you can find it in matte black if you prefer.
The GR8TR features textures on the outside and rings inside which are meant to help with the sticky trichome build-up. However in my experience, it’s best to keep these clean using a wire brush as it can get a bit clogged.
Shredability
The quality of the herb grind is exceptional – perhaps the best I’ve ever seen. And because of this, the Kannastor GR8TR V2 grinds bud into a fluffy consistency. It smokes very well through a bong, and vapes wonderfully as well, even using the smoke plate. But there is vape plate designed especially for vape devices. Whilst a cool concept, the resulting herb looks very similar to the pretty-much perfect grind of the smoke plate, so I don’t feel the need to switch these out, especially as the process takes a minute or so with lots of screwing and un-screwing.
The Kannastor GR8TR V2 retails at £60 or $85-90 if you are in the US. The extra 5 bucks buys you a see-thru jar compartment. This turns your grinder into a grinder/stash jar mash-up if you are into that kind of thing.
There is a mini version at £30 / $45 which I think would be good for travel. Although to be fair, being predominantly a bong smoker I would probably get on just fine with the smaller version myself.
Score
My score for the Kannastor GT8TR V2 series can be broken down as follows:
Look and feel: 9 Use and functionality: 7 Price: 7 Shredability: 9/10 Total score: 8/10
