Strain Summary
Girl Scout Cookies (GSC), an indica-dominant hybrid resulting from crossing Durban Poison with OG Kush, has garnered fame and multiple Cannabis Cup awards. With THC levels between 22.5% and 25.25%, and CBD content from 0.74% to 1.03%, GSC is a versatile strain suitable for both novice and experienced users. This strain induces feelings of sleepiness alongside a unique lemon flavor profile.
GSC is celebrated for its uplifting, creative, and happy effects, providing users with both energy and profound relaxation. It’s effective for treating anxiety, stress, pain, insomnia, depression, and glaucoma. However, it may cause dry mouth, dry eyes, and dizziness as side effects.
Cultivating GSC offers a medium level of difficulty, with plants reaching a modest height of 70-80cm and flowering within 9 weeks. Growers can anticipate yields of 450-550gr/m². The plant’s sweet and fruity taste, enhanced by terpenes like caryophyllene, ocimene, and carene, contributes to its distinctive flavor of cherry, lemon, and a hint of mint.
Background
Girl Scout Cookies is a cross of OG Kush X Durban Poison. It’s the same genetics as the Platinum Cookies we reviewed recently.
This sample came from the US, imported to the UK before being given to me in sample form for the review.
Appearance
This sample is incredibly frosty, as you can see from the close-up shots.
It has been given a good trim job, with only the smallest hints of where the leaves once were.
This Girl Scout Cookies also feels dense, with just a slight bit of give as it’s squeezed. There are also hints of purple spread across parts of the bud which come out more as you break it open.
The sample generally looks great: although I haven’t been given a particularly well-sized bud to review, I can still gauge the appearance of this cannabis strain fairly well, and I’m impressed.
Smell
I’m getting a dusty cookies scent off of this sample initially. As I break it open, a dank pungency comes out in full-force, minus the sweetness I was expecting to experience with this strain.
This is the second phenotype of Girl Scout Cookies I’ve tried that doesn’t seem to capture much of the OG Kush from its parenthood.
That being said, it smells great. Due to the sample being slightly older the smell comes out a lot more once broken/ground up.
Taste
Taking the first hit, I’m immediately impressed with the flavour and smoothness of the smoke; I begin to taste it before I’ve even begun to exhale!
Blowing out the smoke I’m not feeling any need to cough. This is some high-quality ganja right here.
It tastes so good I go back for a second bowl, and once again I’m not disappointed.
This Girl Scout Cookies strain tastes fantastic: Well-cured, pungent and with solid cookies strain flavour – this is a real treat.
Effects
As a hybrid cannabis strain, I’m expecting effects on both end of the spectrum after consuming the Girl Scout Cookies for this week’s smoke report.
The first thing to kick in is the elation, this strain makes me really happy. I’m convinced that part of the elation comes from how good this tastes, but as it kicks in more and more I’m getting the uplifting sense that comes with a nice hybrid strain.
As the second bong kicks in and the first continues to work its magic, I experience the more chilling effects of this strain as I begin to feel good all over my body. It feels good to stretch.
This is a strong sample and I feel rather stoned after a couple of bong hits, but minus any intensity. I could certainly get used to smoking lots more of this one (if I had more to smoke!)
The balance in effects of the Girl Scout Cookies are also wonderful; it delivers a pleasant and enjoyable hybrid high.
Conclusion
One of the best strains I’ve reviewed this year. This sample of the Girl Scout Cookies strain has secured the strain a spot in my top 10, after a bit of much-needed top-ten-spot jiggling.
I could smoke this all day, every day, and still not get bored. It’s a pleasure to smoke and the effects are great.
If all US-imported bud tasted like this I fear my bank balance would be considerably lower, as this really was something special I don’t encounter every day.
Would love to smoke this again, soon, and it beats the Platinum Cookies I reviewed recently.
