Last weekend saw Durham City Cannabis club’s third solo event take place on the disused bowling green in the heart of Durham city, a location that from this point forth I’m going to refer to as “Hemp Gardens”.
That’s because we, Durham City Cannabis Club are working with Durham City MP Roberta Blackman Woods and will be putting together a community action plan to the local council to take control of the derelict ground and take responsibility for the upkeep and development of the otherwise disused green, because as austerity worsens they simply cannot afford to maintain the property properly any longer.
The event last weekend went great! The weather on the day wasn’t the best, to say the least, but this didn’t deter too many potential attendees – with around 250 – 300 people attending throughout the course of the day.
Those who did brave the rain as always enjoyed the community atmosphere and safe social space that these cannabis events provide; guests certainly seemed to enjoy browsing all the different wares and taking the opportunity to socialise with their peers and contemporaries within the local cannabis scene.
Unfortunately, due to dropouts, we had to go without live music on this occasion. There will, however, be many more musicians and speakers at the next and final event in Durham City Cannabis Club’s spring and summer awareness campaign.
DCCC were joined at this event by stalls from, Scotland’s CBD Tardis, East London Head shop, Pipes to pips, Tasir Glass, Wax liquidisers, A tepee full of soap bombs, sweets and other treats as well as well used social areas provided by Gold up forth and powers extracts who along with other attending merchants kindly provided goodies for the now customary raffle.
The raffle provided the opportunity for guests to win some awesome prizes in the raffle with contributions from CBD Tardis, Seedsman Seeds, Royal Queen seeds, Fast Buds seeds, Wax Liquidiser, StrongPiff, Purize, Tasir Glass, Warwickshire Highgrade, Powers Extracts, Gold Up Forth and the main prize of a PotPax 4 in 1 vaporiser.
The next event from Durham City Cannabis club is DCCC presents “All out August” which will be on August 19th and will be the last in this current series of protestival events but there will also be an Autumn event in the guise of DCCC’s first annual Halloweed party!
More details to be announced about both these and future events on DCCC’s social media pages
