Colorado Chem Strain Review & Information

This week I got my hands on some of the Colorado Chem strain for another ISMOKE strain review and information feature.
When I started researching the Colorado Chem strain I couldn’t find the genetics information online, but through the grower I have been able to pin it down.
This strain’s genetics are actually: (Chemdawg 4 x Chem ’91) X (Chem d x i95) X GG #4
Colorado Chem won 2nd place in the 2014 Denver Cannabis Cup (People’s Choice category).
Colorado Chem Strain Summary
Colorado Chem, also known as Colorado Chemdawg or Chem Dawg, presents itself as a harmonious hybrid that defies easy classification due to its undisclosed heritage. This strain has distinguished itself on the cannabis scene by securing the 2nd place in the Denver Cannabis Cup, a testament to its quality and appeal. With THC levels ranging from 15.4% to 17.4%, Colorado Chem strikes a balance that caters to both newcomers and seasoned enthusiasts alike.
The strain’s aroma is a complex tapestry of earthy skunkiness accentuated by pungent lemon and a distinctive chemical undertone, which speaks to its name. Colorado Chem’s flavour profile is equally intriguing, offering a citrusy zest that invigorates the palate with every puff.
The effects of Colorado Chem are as diverse as its flavours. Users report a buoyant happiness and creative surge, complemented by a soothing euphoria and relaxation. This makes Colorado Chem a versatile choice, suitable for daytime use by those seeking to enhance their mood and spark creativity without sacrificing functionality.
Medicinally, Colorado Chem has proven effective in addressing a variety of conditions, from stimulating appetite and alleviating chronic stress to managing depression, nausea, and chronic pain. This wide-ranging therapeutic potential underscores the strain’s value to medical cannabis users.
Cultivating Colorado Chem can be somewhat challenging, requiring attention to detail and controlled conditions to thrive. However, the effort is rewarded with average to above-average yields after a flowering time of 7-8 weeks, making it a worthwhile endeavour for those looking to grow this esteemed strain.
Appearance
The sample came in a “Gas Leak Extracts pack” made from plastic with a printed design featuring the Union Jack and Gas Leak branding.
I thought that this packaging was cool, looks a bit like something I imagine you might find in the US.
The bud itself looks very nice, with a better-than-average trim job and solid green colour, and glistening trichomes clearly visible.
The bud has an old school look and feel to it, also looking like Chemdawg, which isn’t surprising as it makes up so much of the Colorado Chem genetics.
It also feels more resinous than average, and is very sticky when squeezed.
Smell
The pungent gassy smell is strong, and comes out in full force as soon as the bag is open. In the video I state that I would like to live inside that bag, it smells so good.
Imagine a similar smell to things like Holy Grail, OG Kush, OG Reek’n, Road Dawg and Kosher Kush, and you can start to get an idea of what this smells like.
It is definitely one of my favourite cannabis-type smells!

Taste
The flavour of Colorado Chem can be experienced nicely through the bong. And I did so, being treated to a smooth smoking experience and nice flavour on the exhale.
After ten or so seconds I got a sinus-tingling feeling – the same feeling I get with strains like stardawg that are covered in trichomes and feel expansive in the lungs.
Where the flavour of the Colorado Chem really came into its own was when I vaped it. Using the Mighty at 180 degrees Celsius I got an almost literal representation of that oh-so-sweet aroma in the delicious cloudy vapour.
The strong pungent gas and pine notes were very apparent. Delicious and left me wanting more!
Effects
This is a hybrid strain, delivering a potent hit with the Mighty-Vaping/Bong-Smoking combination.
The high kicks in after just a few minutes, progressing into a lovely mix of a body-relaxing yet mind-lifting state that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Conclusion
This was grown well, and the genetics of the Colorado Chem strain are strong. Both these factors led to a top quality sample for this week’s review.
It is hard to fault the Colorado Chem strain. This is one I’d smoke again and again.
